Hello! Thanks for stopping by. My name is Lindsay, and I’m a freelance writer, editor, and communications consultant. By day, I help academic institutions and other mission-driven organizations tell their stories. By night, I write and publish my own poetry in nationally recognized journals.
In previous lives, I’ve held a range of positions: creative writing professor, editor at a design company, and writer and editor for alumni magazines. I draw on the expertise I’ve acquired in those roles as I craft everything from sonnets to online news stories.
As a communications consultant, I’ve partnered with a range of organizations, from the U.S. Postal Service to the public policy school at the University of Virginia. Over the course of my career, I’ve developed annual reports and collectors’ books, copy edited brochures and catalogs, and crafted website text and social media captions. I’ve also reported extensively on the accomplishments of different organizations, interviewing world-class illustrators and pioneering researchers to write compelling stories. Some of these pieces have garnered attention from local and national media outlets, leading to further coverage for my clients.
As a poet, I’ve written a poetry collection, World of Dew, which won the Brittingham Prize in Poetry and was a finalist for the National Poetry Series, the Donald Justice Poetry Prize, and the Lexi Rudnitsky First Book Prize. My poems have been published in top-tier literary journals, including Poetry, Ploughshares, The Kenyon Review, and Blackbird. I’ve also taught creative writing classes on everything from haiku to ecopoetry, and fellowships I’ve earned to write poems have taken me to Ireland, Japan, and a Zen Buddhist monastery in upstate New York.
Regardless of what project I’m working on, I bring a love for text that hooks readers, an eye for beauty in ordinary places, and an ear for clarity in both sentences and ideas. Above all, I am passionate about translating complex concepts and emotions into a form that diverse audiences can relate to and understand.
